Ever wonder what’s behind some of those fabulous homes in Long Beach and Michiana? Yea, same here. Well, after 92 years, the Beach Garden Club has decided to open up seven area gardens and outdoor spaces for a tour on Saturday, June 21.

Diva got a sneak peek of one of the gardens last week. The homeowner does all the gardening herself, and brought many plants from her former home in suburban Chicago. The centerpiece of this packed garden is a koi pond, where several mature fish make their home. The incredibly knowledgeable owner will be on hand to answer all your gardening questions.

Other gardens include one at the large Tudor mansion with guest house across from the Long Beach Community Center, and a garden on one-third acre of land that the homeowner, a Master Gardener, transformed into an oasis of shrubs, trees, perennials and pathways, including a two-story retaining wall of impressive Climbing Hydrangea Beech.
A shuttle bus will circle continually to take ticket holders to the gardens, or you can bike or use a golf cart (car parking will be tight). Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 day of, and proceeds support the Garden Club’s efforts maintaining many public gardens in the area. Get tickets here, and find out more here.
